Awards - The Best of 2010

2010 was a wonderful year. I had the opportunity to lead a project which was deemed a failure right from the start. It involved a group of more than 50 people spanning 3 locations. Fortunately we were able to prove the pundits wrong. We ended the year on a high note. We were the recipients of a number of awards. Here are a few:

1. Individual Excellence Award
2. Best of the Best CMMi Leadership award
3. Letter of Praise from the President
4. Annual Award 2010 - Execution Excellence

Hope this offsets my below par GPA. Well here is for Wishful thinking!!

Money, Money, Money, It sounds so funny in the rich man's world...

Guess the title got your attention. First for some GMAT.

I took the OG diagnostic test, untimed for PS and DS type of questions at work yesterday. These are my results

I was comfortable solving most of the PS type of problems, except for permutations & combinatorics and a couple of word problems. DS was a different animal all together. Score of 16 is not indicative of my DS ability. I think I am in the average range as opposed to above average.
I will take up the verbal diagnostic some time tomorrow. Currently I am working on Geometry. I plan to complete Geometry MGMAT book, Geometry problems from OG 12 and OG Quant by the end of this week. I have also just started on the MGMAT SC book.

Now to something thats been bothering me a lot the past few days.

One of my friend got into Queen's Canada for a one year MBA with a 670 GMAT. yay!!! But she may not be able to go and follow her dreams because of lack of funding. (I sense an SC error in the previous sentence. But in my defence, I am just getting started with SC). I know I too will be in the same position as she is. I have no means of paying for school other than a bank loan. And bank loans does not pay enough to cover the expenses and the fee. Don't get me wrong, I have a job and a decent pay. But this hasn't come easy. It took a while to get where I am today considering the unconventional job that I have. But my savings are definitely not going to tide me through this. Oh I am so upset !!

I wonder what others are doing?  I ask you, my fellow GMATters to shed some light on this. What is your strategy for funding your MBA?

How do you keep yourself motivated and keep trying despite the odds. Take the survey by clicking on the link as mentioned below. I will post the results this weekend. Do take some time to give in your comments here as well. I am in need of some major encouragement people. Cheques will work too :)

Here is the survey link. It is totally anonymous:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2QD7VCL

But the eternal optimist that I am, I will just keep working towards my goal. Lets deal with funding when it comes to it.

Time to say Ta!! I leave you with this :

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.
